The challenges we face in the 21st century demand a long-term vision and a global approach. The mere interaction of states is no longer enough; we need an active world-society, a civic diplomacy that pushes for the global governance that the times demand. In this mobilisation, the Rio+20 Earth Summit can and must be a milestone. And we have several convictions: the seriousness of the multiple crises we are experiencing cannot be solved in isolation by a single social sector, and a new economy must be built, a real economy, at the service of people, that clearly integrates environmental imperatives, that is inclusive and responsible.
